Tundra Update #5: Slow Week
We completed our Lean Canvas this week and presented it to our class. Nothing so far has changed. We are still waiting on answers regarding the placement of our store and whether or not we can sell spirit wear. Our new challenges ahead are getting those answers and purchasing our products, which we plan to do early next week.
Husky BuyPass - New Affiliate Marketing Program
This week we have come up with our company name - Husky BuyPass. In addition to the name, we have also purchased the domain huskybuypass.com and plan to host our website there when it is developed. We also presented our Lean Canvas and overall feel confident in our business so far. We believe one of the best parts of this service will be when people need to buy books for school, as we'll be able to make them easy to find and highlight the cheapest prices.
Future plans for next week are to:
-Find out what products people like to buy online.
-Build the website.

Over this past week we have met a few times, and have talked about choosing a launch date for our business. It is very important to us that we are ready to open and that everything is prepared when this happens. We have decided that we will be completely prepared to open the day before we leave for break, and plan to open a day or two after we return. We have also discussed all the individual topics of running a business that we need to be aware of before we can start and run our business. The drive we worked on discussed risk, management, supplies and other essential topics that need to be carefully considered before we move on. We also talked about possible errors and problems that could arise after our business opens. We discussed competition, who was supplying our customers before us and what will happen to them when we are open. We discussed interest, how our business sounds to an outsider who has never seen or heard about it before. This week was essential to our business because we started to work at our core foundation and understand the work we need to do in order to create a successful and strong business.

We are very pleased with our Lean Canvas that we presented to the rest of the class yesterday. Right now, we are working on getting a small contract and pricing plans put together. Biographies for Mitch, Josh, and myself are still being worked on and will be published on the "About" section of VideAmigo.com soon.
Next class, bios will be finalized and hopefully we will have a contract ready.

Tundra Update #4: Logistics Work & Lean Startup Progress
This week we have been continuing to plan out our Lean Startup and working on the logistics of The Tundra. Sadly, we realized there is not currently enough money for us to buy a machine to dispense our supplies, but we hope that can become a possibility further down the road. We took a survey and found out that many potential customers are interested in our business/products, so we are on the right track. Right now, we are in the process of communicating with Mrs. Giuliani to work out if/how we will sell apparel. So far, our testing is successful and we are finishing up our Lean Startup Plan. Next week, we will hopefully continue to work out more details of our business.
Here is a picture of some of our data:

The survey was very helpful because it helped us to focus our efforts on what our customers will really be interested in.
Flint Hill's Affiliate Marketing Business
Today during the class time, we had a meeting regarding the future of the business. We have finished up our Lean Canvas business model and we feel confident that our business is ready to be developed. Next steps include creation of friendly and usable website that students and parents can access easily. This will hopefully help the Flint Hill Community as a whole.
Food? Food.
Today we talked about the meetings that Annie had. We have found two possible alternatives to using service hours to entice students to work at the Igloo when our business is using the space. The two alternatives are giving " Husky Bucks" which can be used to purchase food at the coffee shop and offer discounts to those who volunteer to work.
We found out a possible place to store the perishable foods. We are thinking up ideas of where to store the excess food at the end of the day.

VideAmigo Company Update 5!
Today, we decided to shift our focus onto our website and experimented with the idea of a website based forum. We found this to be counter productive and the software to be terrible, so we dropped the idea of a website based forum completely!
AcademicConnect is now an Affiliate Marketing Website
We have decided that due to a lack of interest from the student body, we are now leaving the idea of a student helpline and are now creating an affiliate marketing website customized for the Flint Hill population.
Currently we are going with Ebay and Amazon as our partners and are working on how we will build the website.

Pucker up update
Today we worked on our mini business plan which includes our business model and plan. We have ordered most of our materials and plan on beginning the manufacturing process this weekend. We still need to finish our lean business canvas.
Food? Food.
Today we learned about project management and designated roles. Also, the importance of project management and how staying on task and designated roles makes the most efficient working space for our business to prosper.

Food? Food.
Today we re-reevaluated our plans, we came up with questions to ask the school about what is the most efficient and easy way to charge people who are interested in coffee and other products we plan to sell. We also decided that a Keurig is the best plan for selling coffee. We founds pods for a good prices, and we evaluated our next steps for launching our business
PuckerUp Update 2
Update before the electronic business plan:
We have not used our paper canvas very much, but we have been talking about the materials that we need to make our product and trying to get all of the materials needed to start.
So far we have ordered the following...
Shea Butter
Coconut Oil
Beeswax
We are translating everything onto the electronic canvas today.
We are having some trouble staying in the price range of $200 because of additional shipping costs, so in order to save some money we are going to drop a flavor. Originally we had mango, strawberry, peppermint, and vanilla, but to save money we will cut the vanilla flavor.

Tundra Update #3: Avoiding Problems
After reading:
https://docs.google.com/a/flinthill.org/document/d/1suxg6kXEWAcwlMfGm-ozvqY3rcoxMvl0l3OSPhCQ_PI/edit
We discussed avoiding three major problems- bad location, slowness in launching, and fights between founders. We want to make sure that the location we choose is a visible place and that will allow us to store our supplies. We hope to launch at a good rate to avoid wasting time. We want to maintain good communication between the founders to avoid any conflicts that may arise, and if they do we plan to work through them.
Today we also put our Lean Canvas online.

Food? Food.
Today we worked on hashing out a lot of small details like who to get in touch with to talk to about being able to use the Igloo space. We also got our idea of the bake sale like day where we have people taste different types of coffees to give us feedback. We were also able to create a survey for students to tell us some details that will be helpful when deciding what we want to offer at the cafe and when we should be open during the day. Our main focus right now is figuring out if we are allowed to use the Igloo. Once we have that information, the next steps in the process will come a little faster.

VideAmigo Company Update 3!
Today VideAmgio is pleased to announce that our lean business model is complete! This comes as we start another step in our business creation process: our packaging options. We're currently just thinking of how we will charge for our services through packages. This may be subject to change in the coming days but currently we believe that this is the best option.
We are also proud to present our newly created logo from our in-house designer Mitch Arnold:
The design above includes our simplistic and full logo!

Food? Food.
Today we figured out that the Keurig would not be the best idea and we went back and forth between the idea of using a few of the coffee pots or using a big thermos for our coffee. We decided that using a few of the coffee pots would be better because it also solves the problem of getting hot water.
VideAmigo Company Update 2!
Currently, VideAmigo is undergoing the beginning of our logo selection process! As of now we are taking our own "in house" selections as opposed to hiring an outside agency. This is a great way to show off our services to our customers by glancing at the logo:

We filtered each idea and tried to decide which was necessary and tried to get away from brand names, like Keurig, thus we had to reevaluate our Keurig idea. With each idea we had we had to go through and think about the logistics and developed questions. After choosing to stray from the Keurig idea we then researched about which stores sell the products that we need for a low price. We then brainstormed the basics of what we needed for our business and what we wanted to start with. Realizing that we would have some perishables and run into a few health code issues we brainstormed about solutions that would fix these problems.
